The board of directors of the Basilicata Cultural Society of Canada is proud to present this web site in our continuing effort to “Preserve and Promote the Culture and Customs of our Land of Origin”. As time passes we will continue to see increased membership who most likely would have been born in Canada and probably would not know much of the history of Basilicata Cultural Society of Canada.
The genesis of the Basilicata Cultural Society of Canada began in the early 1980s with the creation of the Lucania Social Club. We owe a great deal of gratitude and thanks to the many generous and dedicated Lucani whose leadership and dedication started the Lucania Club in the early 1980’s.Fast-forward to 2003. A number of executive members of the Basilicata Social Club along with other Lucani advanced the idea that the time was ripe to form a regional social-cultural organization, .and the Basilicata Cultural Society of Canada was born.
