About Bishop’s University

Bishop’s University is a predominantly residential, mostly undergraduate university. The residential aspect of our small size (2,900 full-time students) encourages students to immerse themselves in the complete Bishop’s experience.

The stipends are reserved for students submitting an application to a graduate program eligible to the FRQ graduate scholarship programs and/or the Tri-Agency Canada Graduate Scholarships programs. Bishop’s faculty supervisors who accept to supervise a student shall submit the application for funding to the Office of Research & Graduate Studies. Students can apply once per year. Students currently enrolled at Bishop’s University in an eligible graduate program OR converting from a course-based model to a thesis-based model may be considered for the scholarship, as long as they have two or more sessions left to the proposed degree program. For example: students converting from the M.Ed. to M.A. program or students converting from a graduate course-based degree to a thesis-based M.Sc. are considered eligible. To be eligible for an award, the student must, at the time of filing the application:

  • have obtained a minimum cumulative average of 80% (or equivalent), or have achieved a first-class average, and present achievements and works in their curriculum vitae that can be considered of an exceptional nature by the members of the Graduate Research Subcommittee. Students who obtain an award must, if eligible, submit an application for a scholarship competition from an external granting agency within the first year of their Graduate Research Scholarship. Proof of application to external opportunities will be requested when considering renewal of the internal scholarship. The student must continue to meet the conditions listed above for the entire duration of the scholarship.
