The scholarship was created as a tangible symbol of co-operation between Canadian Japanese and Canadian Mennonites subsequent to a formal apology that was offered to Canadian Japanese by Mennonite Central Committee Canada on behalf of Canadian Mennonites.
The scholarship is intended to assist the protection of minority and human rights in Canada, and to reduce the potential for abuse of cultural minorities such as that suffered by Japanese Canadians during World War II.
MCC was formed in 1920 to provide food for families suffering from famine and disease in southern Russia (present-day Ukraine). We soon expanded our mission. Over 100 years later, with your support, we’re honored to work for relief, development and peace all over the world
