Awarded annually to Indigenous students in demonstrated financial need who are entering any fulltime undergraduate program of study at Carleton University. Application is required. Eligible students will demonstrate financial need and resilience in their pursuit of post-secondary education. Preference will be given to those who have limited or no other avenues of funding or support in their pursuit of post-secondary education. This award may be continued for 3 years of full-time enrollment provided the students remain in good academic standing and continue to demonstrate financial need. Endowed in 2021 through the generosity of The Joyce Family Foundation.

Aim and Benefits of Carleton University Joyce Family Foundation Bursaries for Indigenous Students
This award is valued at $5000 for the 2024-2025 academic year. Award recipients will be invited to participate in mentorship program opportunities during their first year of studies and will be encouraged to ace as mentors in subsequent years
Requirements for Carleton University Joyce Family Foundation Bursaries for Indigenous Students Qualification
General Eligibility Criteria
- Indigenous student entering the first year of full-time enrollment in an undergraduate degree program
- Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada (landed immigrant or protected person)
- Pursuing post-secondary studies for the first time
- Entering university no more than 3 years since completing high school
- Demonstrated financial need
- Preference will be given to those who have limited or no other avenues of funding to support their pursuit of post-secondary education
- Demonstrated community involvement and resilience in their pursuit of post- secondary education
- Reference/Recommendation Letter of support required
- This award may be continued for three consecutive years of undergraduate study provided the recipient maintains full-time enrollment in an eligible undergraduate degree program and remains in good academic standing.
- If the award is lost in one year, it cannot be regained in subsequent years
