Established in 1938 and augmented in 1946 by Sir Douglas Alexander, and members of his family, in memory of Archibald Grieg Alexander. Requirements: A variable number of scholarships to be awarded to students enrolled in Level 2 or above on the basis of excellence in an Honours program in the Faculty of Humanities. The purpose of the scholarships is to enable the recipients to study outside Canada during the twelve months prior to the final Fall/Winter terms.

Qualifications
- Applicant must be a minimum academic level 2.
- This award is not second degree eligible.
- Applicant must be an undergraduate student.
- This award is specific to students in the Faculty of Humanities.
- Applicant must be enrolled in an Honours program.
- Applicant must have read, understood and agreed to the Student Declaration.
- Applicant must be enrolled.
- Applicant must be a current student.
- Applicant must have a minimum 7.0 cumulative GPA.
- Applicant must have a minimum 18 graded units.
- Applicant must plan to travel to earn academic credit, pursue experiential learning opportunities, complete research or projects, participate in relief efforts, volunteer or work.
