Established in 1993 by many friends, colleagues and alumni of McMaster University as a tribute to Marnie Spears (Class of '69), Executive Director, Development and Public Relations from 1986-93 and dedicated alumna who served as President of the McMaster Alumni Council in 1980, in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the University.

Requirements for McMaster University Marnie Spears Scholarship Qualification
- Applicant must be minimum academic level 2.
- Applicant must be an undergraduate.
- Applicant must be enrolled in an Honours or Honours Co-op program.
- This award is not second degree eligible.
- Applicant must have read, understood and agreed to the Student Declaration.
- Applicant must be enrolled.
- Applicant must be a current student.
- Applicant must have a minimum 18 graded units.
- Applicants must have a minimum 9.5 sessional average.
- Applicant must be eligible for in-course awards (Graduating students are not eligible).
Interview date, Process and Venue for McMaster University Marnie Spears Scholarship
To be awarded to the student enrolled in Level 2 or above of an Honours program with notable academic standing and who, in the judgment of a Selection Committee, has demonstrated leadership in public, community or University alumni relations. Students may only receive this award once.
