Established in 1960 by Mayor Lloyd D. Jackson (Class of '09), LL.D (Class of '55) and Mrs. Jackson of Hamilton in memory of their daughter, Joan (Class of '40).Requirements: To be awarded to a woman student enrolled in Level 3 or above of an Honours program in English for excellence in the work of the program (with emphasis on English). The winner must have secured all her secondary school education in Canada. The award is to be used for study and travel in the United Kingdom and Continental Europe during the vacation before the final Fall/Winter terms.
For the purpose of Aid and Award criteria and eligibility, references to "Woman" or "Female" include students who identify as Woman/Female and references to "Man" or "Male" include all students who identify as a Man or Male.
