The Tom Ghostkeeper Scholarship is available to Métis students enrolled in the areas of justice related studies These scholarships are open to all Métis Nation of Alberta citizens who are enrolled in a post secondary program in the area of justice studies. Award selection will be based upon involvement in the Métis community. The scholarships will be awarded at the Métis Week Gala held in November of each year. The recipients are expected to receive their award in person that evening. The recipients will be chosen by a selection committee of representatives from Tom Ghostkeeper’s family and MNA representatives. A tax receipt (T4A) will be forwarded to the recipients
Since 1928, the Otipemisiwak Métis Government has governed the Métis within Alberta. In 1928, Alberta Métis began organized to advance Métis self-determination and self-government in the province, leading to the creation of the Métis Nation of Alberta. In November 2022, Métis citizens overwhelmingly ratified a constitution to establish the Otipemisiwak Métis Government.
