Metis Nation of Alberta Tom Ghostkeeper Scholarship 2024

The Tom Ghostkeeper Scholarship is available to Métis students enrolled in the areas of justice related studies These scholarships are open to all Métis Nation of Alberta citizens who are enrolled in a post secondary program in the area of justice studies. Award selection will be based upon involvement in the Métis community. The scholarships will be awarded at the Métis Week Gala held in November of each year. The recipients are expected to receive their award in person that evening. The recipients will be chosen by a selection committee of representatives from Tom Ghostkeeper’s family and MNA representatives. A tax receipt (T4A) will be forwarded to the recipients

Since 1928, the Otipemisiwak Métis Government has governed the Métis within Alberta. In 1928, Alberta Métis began organized to advance Métis self-determination and self-government in the province, leading to the creation of the Métis Nation of Alberta. In November 2022, Métis citizens overwhelmingly ratified a constitution to establish the Otipemisiwak Métis Government. $1,000 will be awarded to the selected recipient of this scholarship

Requirements for Metis Nation of Alberta Tom Ghostkeeper Scholarship i Qualification

1. Students must include completed application form, reference letter, and a written section describing qualifications
2. Students must provide proof of registration, as well as details of the post-secondary program and/or courses in which they are enrolled.
3. Nominations must include the completed nomination form, as well as a letter from the nominator.
