As it has for generations, Bishop’s University continues to attract exceptional students of high academic standing. They make significant contributions to the intellectual and social life of the University and they derive great benefit from their experiences at Bishop’s. These impressive young people have a positive impact on their classmates, professors and the community and they contribute to Bishop’s objective of providing the best undergraduate education in the country.
Bishop’s University is a predominantly residential, mostly undergraduate university. Our primary concern is offering students a quality education in the fine arts, humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, business and education. The residential aspect of our small size (2,900 full-time students) encourages students to immerse themselves in the complete Bishop’s experience.
The Michael Goldbloom Excellence Scholarships, named for Bishop’s 18th Principal and Vice-Chancellor, are valued at $10,000 per year (renewable) and are intended to recognize and reward students with outstanding academic records. Our core values – student-centered, community-focused, excellence and sustainability – are the foundations on which Bishop’s University is built. We are committed to being a diverse, vibrant and inclusive community, and we encourage students of equity-deserving groups to apply for this Scholarship
To be eligible for the Michael Goldbloom Excellence Scholarships, students must:
A scholarship offer is only valid for the year in which it is offered – deferrals are not permitted. Scholarships are paid in two installments (one in the Fall semester and one in the Winter semester).
Please note that the Michael Goldbloom Excellence Scholarship cannot be awarded in conjunction with other Bishop’s University scholarships. This means that the scholarship offer that is of higher value will replace the scholarship of lower value.
Recipients will be selected by a Committee chaired by the Principal of the University which will include the Vice-Principal of Student Affairs, the Registrar, the Director of Enrolment Management, a full-time faculty member of the University, and a current member of the Students’ Representative Council (SRC). Applicants who meet the required academic standards will be evaluated on factors such as leadership, community engagement, entrepreneurship, and exceptional academic, artistic or athletic talent. A maximum of seven recipients will be chosen each year.
