The Honourable Pearl Calahasen Scholarship is available to Métis students enrolled in any area of study. The scholarships are open to all Indigenous students, with a preference given to Métis students who are enrolled in a post secondary training program. The scholarships will be awarded at the Delia Gray Memorial Gala held in November of each year. The scholarship will be presented to the recipients in person by representatives of the Calahasen family. Students may apply for this scholarship or may be nominated. A tax receipt (T4A) will be forwarded to the recipient.
Since 1928, the Otipemisiwak Métis Government has governed the Métis within Alberta. In 1928, Alberta Métis began organized to advance Métis self-determination and self-government in the province, leading to the creation of the Métis Nation of Alberta. In November 2022, Métis citizens overwhelmingly ratified a constitution to establish the Otipemisiwak Métis Government.
