The Government of Canada Faculty Mobility for Partnership Building Program

The Faculty Mobility for Partnership Building Program (FMPBP) is part of Global Affairs Canada’s International Scholarships Program.

The Government of Canada announced FMPBP in 2017 to support the efforts of Canadian post-secondary institutions to expand and diversify their international collaborations.

The program enables professors at Canadian post-secondary institutions to pursue short-term research and/or teaching activities in Latin America and the Caribbean as a means of exploring, creating and advancing institutional partnerships in the areas of research, student mobility, joint programming, capacity building, and others.

The primary objective of the exchange is to create new institutional collaborations and/or to strengthen existing agreements between Canadian and non-Canadian post-secondary institutions eligible under the Emerging Leaders in the Americas Program (ELAP).

Aim and Benefits of Canadian Government Faculty Mobility for Partnership Building Program

• Value - $7,000 maximum
• Duration - 3 to 8 weeks

Canadian institutions will provide funds to the recipient to cover the following eligible costs associated with activities:

• visa or study/work permit fees
• transportation via the most direct and economical route
•  health insurance cost
• living expenses, such as accommodation, utilities and food (based on the rates and allowances listed by the National Joint Council  and the Public Services and Procurement Canada )

The purchase of equipment (computer, tablet, phone, printer, etc.) is not an eligible expenditure.

Requirements for Canadian Government Faculty Mobility for Partnership Building Program Qualification

To be eligible, candidates must:

•  be a full-time professor at a Canadian post-secondary institution

Canadian post-secondary institutions must:

• be a Designated Learning Institution  (DLI)

Host institutions must:

• be located in one of the following ELAP-eligible countries
  • Caribbean: Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Cuba, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Montserrat, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, Turks and Caicos
  • Central America: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama
  • North America: Mexico
  • South America: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, Venezuela
