Catherine Howe (1982-2021) was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, friend, and colleague. She cared deeply about promoting child and youth voices, children’s rights, and environmental justice. While completing her MA in Child and Youth Care, Catherine collaborated with her peers to create Youth First, which was a youth-led initiative that focused on creating safe and interactive cyberspaces for young people during the pandemic. Post-graduation, she helped lead the youth participatory action research training in the lead up to the Phoenix Consultation. This award is dedicated to Catherine, in honor of her unwavering commitment to the field of Child and Youth Care. Catherine made this world a better place simply by existing and everyone who had the honor of knowing her is better because of it. Catherine was fierce, unstoppable and a force to be reckoned with, and she made others feel like they just might
be too.
