The Union of Health and Environment Workers, a science-based Component of the Public Service Alliance of Canada, has approximately 10, 000 members spread out across Canada; in the north, in the south and from the east coast to the west coast. The National Council, responsible for the affairs of the Component, is comprised of the National President, National Vice-President, who are both in the UHEW’s Headquarters in the National Capital Region, and 15 Regional Vice-Presidents, representing their Locals within their region. Two scholarships are awarded on scholastic achievement for $3,000 each and named the Tony Tilley Scholastic Award
Assess the complexities that labor unions are currently encountering in navigating the landscape of remote and/or hybrid work environments. How is the new hybrid work environment, affecting solidarity principles within the union? What considerations should the union be advocating for while we adapt to the new hybrid work environments, and the challenges we face cultivating cohesion and teamwork among geographically dispersed members.
The deadline for receipt of applications is August 30, 2024.
Applications for the scholarships are invited annually by means of a notice issued by the UHEW. Application forms for the scholarships, offered to qualified dependents and/or members of the UHEW membership, can also be obtained on request from your Local or Sub-Local President or on our Website.
