One or more awards are given to entering or continuing undergraduate international students from sub-Saharan Africa with demonstrated financial need. Preference will be given to students in the Faculty of Human and Social Development.

Requirements for University of Victoria Nelson Family Award Qualification
To be eligible, international undergraduate students must normally be:
- Entering their first year in an undergraduate degree program at UVic and meet UVic's academic and English proficiency requirements. See English Language Proficiency requirements
- A current secondary school student or have graduated within the last two years and have not attended a post-secondary institution
- Admitted to UVic with a competitive admission average
- An international student studying at UVic on a Canadian study permit (changes to your citizenship status may effect your scholarship eligibility)

Interested and qualified? Go to

Successful recipients will be notified in writing by the Student Awards and Financial Aid Office.
To accept your scholarship offer:
- Have a NetLink ID
- Go to www.uvic.ca and sign into your UVic Online tools using your NetLink ID
- Select "Student Services" on the top menu
- Select "Awards and financial aid" under "Finances"
- Select "View My Student Aid"
- Enter the Aid Year and Aid Period
- Select "Accept" on the scholarship(s) you have been offered
