About Yukon University

Yukon University traces its history to the founding in 1963 of the Whitehorse Vocational and Technical Training Centre (soon after renamed the Yukon Vocation and Training Centre), located on the banks of the Yukon River in downtown Whitehorse. College status was granted in the spring of 1983 when the Yukon Vocational and Technical Training Centre became Yukon College, and in 1988 the Whitehorse campus moved from downtown to its current location, 2km up the hill. Aim and Benefits of Yukon University Entrance Scholarship Grade 12

Three scholarships are available for payment towards tuition only for a maximum of $3500 for the first year of study at Yukon University (over two sequential semesters).

Requirements for Yukon University Entrance Scholarship Grade 12 Qualification

• Citizen or permanent resident of Canada
• Grade 12 Yukon high school student with a minimum average of 80% in Grade 12 courses
• Have applied for Yukon University full-time studies before May 15

Completed Student Financial Award Application Waiver Form

• Official high school transcript
• Copy of Letter of Acceptance from Yukon University within two days of notification
• Essay (maximum 300-words) describing:
